Before you start executing a project you should spend an appropriate amount of time planning so that you have a good idea of what you are doing. In the TenStep Process this includes two components.

1.0 Define the Work

2.0 Build the Schedule and Budget

The major deliverables from the planning process are

• Project Charter

• Project Management Plan

• Schedule

• Budget

The planning process is generally executed at the beginning of the project but the documents created here should be updated continually during the project.
